RUBY STROEBEL

Exploring the bridge between the conscious and subconscious, I navigate in solitude within buildings, labyrinths, and pathways that reside within concealing voids of darkness. Found within this endless abyss of the unknown lies the beauty of uncertainty that simultaneously invites and and unsettles. There is no end in sight but I persevere, enticed by curiosity and the eerie glows of light within pools of darkness. As I explore, I’m eternally shifting, transforming as I wait to confront what lies ahead. The graininess of my stone lithographs hum with noise, while the voids of black hold a consuming silence. The chaotic and unpredictable nature of the process forces me to embrace and reflect on the unknown, and discover beauty hidden within layers of disorder.

Ruby Stroebel is a Wisconsin based artist currently residing in Madison. She received her
BFA from the Milwaukee Institute of Art and Design in 2025 with a focus in printmaking. She fell in love with stone lithography and the uncertainty, delicacy, and resilience of the medium. Allowing her prints to be transformed by the very physical and lengthy process, she experiments and explores the boundaries of the stone. Stroebel’s work has been exhibited at galleries in Milwaukee and Madison. In July, 2025 she was selected to attend a Master Class for Lithography at Anderson Ranch Arts Center in Snowmasse Village, CO. She currently resides in Madison, WI, maintaining an active practice while establishing her new studio space.
