Club Noir Book Release Party - Black History Month Celebration
Time & Location
Feb 12, 2022, 7:00 PM – 10:00 PM
Between Two Galleries, 706 S 5th St, Milwaukee, WI 53204, USA
About the Event
Club Noir is a hypothetical cafe slash nightclub on Martin Luther King Jr. Drive where Black & Brown folks come to be human minus the oppressor. Our community brother slash social justice activist, Emilio De Torre will tell you more about the club in our introduction. We want to invite you to Between Two Galleries (706 S. 5th Street, Walker’s Point) Saturday, February 12th, 7-10 pm to celebrate Black History Month and watch Milwaukee’s heart and soul theatrically perform his timeless narrations about his home city. Mr. Kavon Cortez Jones will take you on a journey around Milwaukee. He will climb with you to the US Bank’s building’s apex to overlook downtown, skylark you on the inland sea’s shores, sit with you in the Original Fuel Cafe for a cup of coffee with friends and lovers, drown you in whiskey, and end with a love letter that perfectly describes this rustbelt metropolis. He has not left MKE even 27 years later. Mr. Jones neighborly bikes and talks to local luminaries who make Milwaukee bright and him special. Darlin Nikki Janzen and Mario the Poet are two of Kj’s favorite poets who will perform as well.
