For many years, communities worldwide have fought for justice and equality. In Mexico, the mask represents the people, their struggle, and their resistance. These "cartoneria" (papier-mâché) pieces—Ocelotl, Tecuani (jaguar, tigre), and Juditas (devil)—symbolize our community's diversity and our collective power when we stand together.
Throughout my life as an immigrant in Wisconsin, I have developed various pieces that reflect this heritage and the justice movement. Nothing makes me feel more at home than sharing my work, as art is a vital tool for conveying complex messages and connecting with others.
