The milk crate is both universal and personal - designed for a singular purpose, and becoming its own entity through a lifetime of use and change. Repetition in making, holding, storing, and stacking cause a shift from uniform to unique.
Each crate was created as a frame, invoking the memory of a milkcrate, and celebrating the ways in which a milk crate becomes more. Stools, bookshelves, end tables, or a spot to have a smoke. Devoid of contents, each crate allows the viewer to fill it with their own needs and memories.
