For this year’s 30x30x30 Exhibition I decided to paint 30 icons of 20th century design history. The objects, a mix of household appliances, vehicles, toys, furniture, accessories and more, were carefully chosen based upon the following criteria: aesthetic qualities, historical popularity and overall pervasiveness in our culture. Through these paintings I want to bring about memory and evoke a feeling of nostalgia within the viewer. Additionally, I desire to create a sense of joyful consumerism as we celebrate these beloved items; that we, at one point in time used, or continue to use, every day.
