Kelly Schnurr

 

As a multidisciplinary artist based in Buffalo, NY, I combine my design background with fine arts practices. Somewhat autobiographical, I hint at escapism through my use of color, texture, and layered materials. Creating portals of fantastical landscapes and references to natural patterns, I work intuitively and extremely deliberately as I weave in and out of memory, distraction, and life’s interruptions. Deconstructed paintings and textile scraps are reassembled in collage form while embroidered elements stitch a connection—offering small bursts of color, pattern, and hopeful delight.
