Julie Jilek

Quarantined by choice for nearly four years, my recent work documents mundane moments of daily life floating solo through pandemic times. Subjects are sourced from my view at home, in nature, and various vacant spaces through the passing seasons in Wisconsin. Ghost pipe in a forest, snow across a frozen lake, a rainbow cast across the bedroom wall, blooming flowers in the yard, all tiny glimmers of some intangible flicker that keeps me going despite it all. They serve as a reminder to myself that life is still happening. I am still here nudging life forward one creation at a time.
