Jonathan Pruc

Through a body of colorful abstract mirrors, I investigate the sensations and possibilities evoked by thresholds, corners, and in-between spaces. My work explores how design shapes our experiences of liminality. I use vibrant hues and highly reflective mirrored surfaces in my compositions. The bright colors and reflective surfaces immerse viewers in the vitality and potential of transitional spaces by allowing them to be active participants in how the work is perceived; their perception changes depending on the lighting, viewing angle, and proximity to the work. This current body of work highlights the expansive and architectonic qualities of place and examines the blending of real and imagined architectural elements. Though open to interpretation, these works reflect my fascination with design choices, how they shape our sensations of place, and the belief that design impacts how we feel in these transitional spaces.
