Hanna Milos

This body of work seeks to celebrate the iconography and culture of Wisconsin dive bars, paying homage to the beloved third spaces where we make memories as Wisconsinites. Weaving together references to the Midwest’s iconic traditions and my own personal experiences, I’m not only painting a pictographic portrait of myself, but of a region. The use of collage materials such as pull-tabs, my own photographs, and wood grain paper furthers this characterization. Other materials used, such as acrylic paint, ink on paper, and linocut printmaking represent my exploratory and experimental artistic practice.
