Genevieve Irene DiBiase

Moments of melancholic awe - when the present snaps into focus, eyes sharpen to details, and the scene washes over - inspire my work.

Meeting with nature provides the space to explore your own mind and feeling, allowing for internal confrontations and soothings to happen in concert.

I bring nature into all of my works because I want to bottle those moments of internal reflections - when people feel the most connected and honest with themselves. I appreciate that there’s a sweetness to these occasions that I capture - people will often leave those scenes feeling more sorted than when they arrived.

My detailed stippingling work carries the rich moodiness of these moments through inviting contrasts and pensive intricacies. However, with the simplicity of ink on paper, it maintains the humble essence of nature and the peace that people find in it.
