Amanda Langer
Using MIG welding, oxy-acetylene gas welding, knitting, and crochet, they pose fiber and steel in relation to one another in a variety of configurations that result in a suite of widely different works with unique characters. They play with the perception of structure and what these appearances mean about the assumed nature of the materials. The steel and fiber in this work are the active players in a dialogue about disparate entities that turn conflict into harmony and opposition into beauty. The resulting pieces are an extremely small collection of an infinity of possible solutions to such discord.
