The Var Gallery's primary focus is to support emerging, and established artists of all mediums. The gallery exhibits two and three dimensional work on monthly basis. Each exhibition is carefully considered by the quality of works, statement of intent, and overall cohesion with the years programming. In addition to the proposed , the gallery also has annual exhibitions including our Emerging Artist, Figure, 30x30x30, and Collective Exhibitions. In addition to the exhibitions, the gallery also hosts a variety of other events including our monthly Drink & Draw Figure Drawing sessions, and Critique sessions.

Since its inception, Var has continuously supported the performing arts such as music, comedy, spoken word and poetry. Our focus is to provide an intimate and authentic environment that is crucial to our performers and audience members. Throughout the week we have a variety of unique performances including but not limited to local and touring artists throughout the country. Performances typically take place on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday evenings.

Var is host to 72 artists in residence working across disciplines from drawing, painting, sculpture, ceramics, film, video, photography, illustration, poetry, spoken word, and mixed-media.  The studios range in size and style. There are private studios and open concept spaces to accommodate the wide variety of practices.  Artists also have access to a full wood shop and kilns that may be used 24/7.  Our goal is to be an affordable resource for emerging artists, as well as provide a platform to share artwork and exchange ideas within the collective and Milwaukee's community.

The Var Bar is an accessory to the gallery that invites individuals to walk through our exhibitions while enjoying a few of our many beverages.  The menu includes signature cocktails, mixed drinks, wine, and local beer.  We also serve coffee and espresso drinks, along with a variety of teas.
