Like most people, I’ve spent the majority of my time at home the past year. As part of my new work from home lifestyle, I’m taking daily walks in the early evening. It’s refreshing to take a momentary break each day and look up at the sky. It’s become a daily ritual to catch the vivid colors blazing across the horizon right before the sun goes down. There is an incredible range of color in the sky and those colors have inspired my recent paintings. These new compositions feature scenes at twilight. I enjoyed continuing to explore this twilight series for the 30x30x30 exhibition. I made a painting a day in January using colors seen in the sky at sunset each day. I used this series of 30 paintings as an opportunity to more closely study forms of clouds and record transient reflections of light in the sky.
